My poor baby!

*not massively gruesome reading but still feel free to skip reading, it is more a post for friends and family to save me constantly repeating the story!*

So I thought I was going to get Charleigh ready for bed as she had been rather sniffy and thought an early night would do her the world of good! We were just about to venture off upstairs when the phone rings, Andy! I answer and he is immediately telling me not to panic, so of course I totally ignored him and went into panic overdrive! "Jack has fallen and banged his head!" he tells me, (Jack was at football training for the local under 9 team) I start to calm down a little. Heidi (my friend) will come and get you he says - me still shaken a little says "OK!" and then put the phone down! Then my mobile phone starts to ring - its Heidi! She tells me in rather a stressed and worried tone that she will meet me there, I phone Andy back to tell him I will see him at home as it is icy and Charleigh is unwell etc etc. Andy then decides to start being honest with me and proceeds to say "no Dawn you don't understand, an ambulance will be here at any moment!"I put the phone down on Andy and immediately phone Heidi and ask her to pick me up on route! We get to the sports hall where I find my baby being comforted by his daddy, Jack is crying and shaking and everyone is looking rather worried. Andy removes the tissue he was holding over Jack's forehead after pre-warning me I wouldn't like it! I had to turn away from Jack and then leave the room as I was retching and crying and didn't want Jack to see me! Without being majorly graphic, I saw quite a lot of bone!

Jack was doing his warm up run abouts with his team mates and he went to get the ball out the back of the net using his foot when the goal posts tip over and knock him to the ground and then land on his head. The force of it split his head open rather badly!

The fast response car turns up first and the lovely lady sorted him out with a bandage and oxygen and then shortly after the ambulance arrives and luckily one of the paramedics that arrived was one of Jack's friends dad so he was great at helping to calm Jack down! I got into the ambulance with Jack after arranging childcare for Charleigh with Heidi. We set off for the hospital with Andy driving behind. It must have been around 6:30pm when we arrived and it was just before 11:30pm when Jack was finally stitched up after having x-rays and large amounts of metal removed from the wound. Jack was admitted onto the children's ward where we both spent the night. Andy came to pick us up the next day and we were home for lunch time. He is doing OK, just feeling bruised and tired and suffering from headache and itchy stitches.

I was a complete mess on the night though. I have never felt more useless it was so painful hearing my babies screams and knowing I couldn't take away his pain, its a good job Andy was there to hold his hand because I went to pieces and had to leave the room at one point! I didn't dare get much sleep while we were in hospital as they were waking him every hour to make sure he was easily roused (which he wasn't the first 2 times they woke him which was pretty scary) I didn't get much sleep last night either but he has been a lot brighter today and playing with his toys so I think I might relax a bit more tonight :)

There will be quite a lot of shouting on my part though in the next few days as I am going to demand to know how this could happen, the posts were not at all secure and his coach even said they don't secure the posts as they are moved around quite a lot for the adult football games! That to me is NOT acceptable! God forbid, but it could have been a hell of a lot worse!

still in a stitching slump!

I really cannot wait till the new year! I have never felt so unsettled as I have this year what with my spinal surgery and a house move shortly after its been a nightmare! I am very much a creature of habit and I feel as though my routine has gone out the window and I want it back lol!

I also think my disrupted routine has a lot to do with hardly doing any stitching. I had a splurge on audio books recently as you can see above (I also got another Dorothy Koomson called Best Friends Girl but it hasn't arrived yet!) so my plan of action is to get out the stitching and sit with my MP3 player firmly stuck in my ears and stitch for hours on end! That's the plan anyway, keep your fingers crossed it works ;)

Another impressive reason to start stitching is the above! I received the most gorgeous (this picture truly does not give it justice) Christmas winter fairy ornament from the lovely Wanda and I need to come up with something equally as impressive for her :) I don't know who the designer is but I love it to bits. I tried to get a decent photo of the trim as it is has some very sparkly sequins and looks fab but my camera or maybe its my photography skills was not playing nicely. Wanda also enclosed some lovely fabric and thread, everything is so me and I thank you so much again :)

Other big news is I am now in my 8th week of being a non-smoker!!!! I am soooooo proud of myself as I never thought I would do it as I have absolutely ZERO willpower but so far so good :)

Hope everyone is well and not too frazzled with the christmas shopping! I am doing ok, the children are sorted its just family and food to sort out now!

Till next time............

May I have this dance?

I have FINALLY finished Cirque des Cercles!!!!! It feels like I have been stitching this forever! To be honest I could have had this finished months ago but I really have not been in the mood for stitching full stop! I didn't even react when I finished this afternoon! My worry is now that I will put off having it framed etc!

The above is the reason why i have pushed myself to complete cirque. I ordered this from QVC for the great price of £20.43 which I thought was a bargain compared to all the other prices I have seen. I want to jump on the band-wagon with the floss tags and wanted to be able to them with minimum effort. I LOVE it, I tried it the day I bought it and its soooooooo easy - so stay tuned for floss tags appearing soon ;)

I also bought these from a lovely lady at Charmed cards & Crafts I would highly recommend her and the customer service is fab!

I also would like to take this opportunity to apologise for my lack of commenting, I have been reading and everyone has been doing gorgeous work :) life has been pretty hectic at the moment but I am hoping things will improve soon :)

Long time no blog!

The lovely Karan awarded me this award! The first I have ever received - thanks so much!
Time has just gone by so quickly! We have almost got settled in the new house just a bit of tweaking to do, the main thing is to add some colour to the place - everywhere is cream and I am so bored of it lol
I haven't been doing an awful lot of stitching, lost the will big time over the last few months. I have done some though so as soon as kids are back at school and there is some routine to my life I will post some pictures for you all.
I have been reading blogs but not had the chance to comment much (sorry about that) I have been very impressed with all your lovely creations :)
Until next time :)

Updates before house move

Above is my progress on "I Still Do" I have missed one week of this SAL with Helen as life is upside down at the moment! Until the other day I have hardly picked up a needle in 2 weeks.
I am enjoying stitching it though :)

This is an update of Cirque, I could have had this finished weeks ago if I pulled my finger out!

We will be moving house from Monday so I don't know how long it will be before I am back up and running, I am hoping it will just be a case of switching the phone straight on so I can have my Internet back almost straight away, but having said that none of this house move has gone smoothly so it wouldn't surprise me if that was a nightmare too lol

Helen: I will try and catch up with you when I can on I still do :)

I still do

This is my start on I still do.
Helen and I are doing a SAL with this one!
I am stitching my version on 25ct precious metals opal (yes can you tell I like this fabric?) 1 over 1 using the recommended Carries Creations thread. The bigger motif is stitched with Olde Worlde red, the one underneath is Ruby and the 2 little hearts are stitched using Raspberry Light. I am enjoying stitching this one!
I am stitching this one for Andy and I and am also planning on working the kids names into the ABC heart in the middle of the design. We will have been together 10 years in September next year so that is the date I am aiming to have this completed by!
Andy and I were talking this weekend and have made our minds up that we are going to book our wedding on our 10 year anniversary date, 25th September 2009, so my problem is this, do I stitch my initials as they are now or what they will be when we are married?
We have made plans to get married before (twice!) and not long after we found out I was pregnant (twice!) so never went any further and life just carried on and while we talk about it a lot we haven't made any firm plans until now :):):):):) Oooooooooh I am so excited! Will keep you informed of any updates!
